THE DAWES PLAN
OPPOSED BY LUDENDQRFF. ELECTION MANIFESTO. “A TACTLESS DOCUMENT.” BY CABLE —PB.ESS ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT. (Received Oct. 25, 11.15 a.m.) LONDON, Oct. 23. The Times’ Berlin correspondent says that the German Nationalists’ election manifesto, which is signed by Ludendortf, appeals for the cancellation of the _ Dawes scheme. It is roundly criticised on all sides as a most tactless document, and its publication has put Stresemann and bis followers in a difficult position, and for the time being at any rate there is no further talk of the much-trumpeted co-opera-tion between the Nationalists and the People’s Party. The latter indeed condemn the Nationalists’ manifesto as being directly opposed to the policy pursued by the Nationalist leaders for six weeks preceding the election, which had been ‘taken as a basis for joint action. The People’s Party meantime is proceeding with its campaign on its own lines, and is exploiting the acceptance of the Dawes scheme as its particular claim for the suoooit of the electors.—limes.
