RADIO INTERESTS.
BATTLE WITH NEWSPAPERS. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received Oct. 25, 11.15 a.m NEW YORK, Oct. 24. A battle appears to be opening between radio interests and the newspapers. The Associated Press adopted a resolution against broadcasting at its last annual meeting, and a climax was reached when it was announced that the Chicago Tribune was operating one of the finest sets in America. It received a warning not to announce the results of the Presidential election over this radio. The order not only includes the broadcasting of news furnished by the Associated Press, but the latter also seeks to prohibit the Tribune from broadcasting its own election returns, on the ground that ns a member of the Associated Press it must abide by the general decision, and that any news the Tribune itself may obtain is automatically the property of the Associated Press. The Tribune intends to take the matter to the courts.
BROADCASTING REQUEST REFUSED.
Received Oct. 25, 9.35 a.m MELBOURNE, Oct.' 25. The \ iotoria Racing Club committee has refused an application bv a wireless firm to broadcast the result and a description of the Melbourne Cup.
