The Anglican Synod decided in favour of the appointment of a coadjutor Bishop of Sydney at a stipend of £IOOO to assist the Archbishop. It was argued that the recent illness of Archbishop Wright was largely due to overwork, and that the growth of the diocese necessitated such an appointment. _ PARADE BY GLOAMING. DIG ITALIAN LOAN. ROME, Oct. 24. The Government on December 10 is issuing an internal loan of £47,000,000 to meet its obligations to the devastated areas. The loan will be issued in 100 franc bonds, bearing interest at 5 per cent., redeemable in 1934. OUTLET FOR JAPANESE. SAN FRANCISCO, Get. 22. It is stated that two representatives of the Japanese general staff and ten Japanese financiers and industrial experts are in Mexico to direct the finance of a colonisation project in Lower California, involving the transportation of a settlement of 20,000 Japanese and tile construction of cotton mills. TURKS EXPEL GREEKS. GENEVA, Oct. 24. Greece lias applied for the Council of the League of Nations which is meeting at Brussels next week, to consider the expulsions of Greeks from Constantinople, which it is feared might precipitate a Turco-Greelc war. DAMAGE OF £1,000,000. LONDON, Oct. 24. The damage caused by the film fire (reported in yesterday’s Star) is estimated at £1,000,000. THE END OF WEMBLEY. LONDON. Oct. 23. The first act of the Prince of Wales on returning from America will be to close the Wembley exhibition on November 1. MEDICAL CONGRESS. OTTAWA, Oct. 22. .At the medical congress at Montreal Dr. Robertson described the types of blood infection and treatments, especially laying stress on the value of coal tar dye and chemicals of various combinations for direct injection into the viens, which had met with encouraging results. Cases where the temperature was ex-, tremelv high often get immediate relief. The sneaker cited details of two cases where the treatment showed special effectiveness. Taxation proposals announced in the Budget speech include an increase in the supertax from 25 per cent! to 33 1-3 per ceit.
