“THE JELLICOE CADETS.”
“MY LIPS ARE SEALED.” CHRISTCHURCH, Oct. 20. At a Navy League farewell to the Governor-General, Mr J. J. Dougall, president of the Canterbury branch, stated that the League was now proposing to the Government that a proportion of the young men in military training should be trained for the sea, and that naval training units should. J)?. established at the principal ports of the Dominion. It was hoped to impress on the Government the logical necessity of such a scheme, and with His Excellency’s approval it was proposed to designate the Sea Cadets as the “.Tellicoe Cadets.” His Excellency, in his reply, said that as the matter was one of policy his lips were sealed, and if he were asked after November 26 he would be only too pleased to express an opinion. “Up till then.” he added, “I ain afraicV my lips are sealed.”
