A Sydney cable message reports the death of Dr. Leighton Kesteven, a prominent physician and surgeon.
Dr. R. G. B. Sinclair, who recently resigned liis position of resident medical officer, left on Friday for Dunedin. He has entered into partnership with Dr. Buist, and will therefore be returning to Hawera shortly. Dr. W. K. Hamilton, assistant medical officer in the Napier Hospital, was’ appointed to the vacancy at the Hawera Hospital.
The resignation from the Taranaki Education Board of Mr R, Masters, M.P., owing to the position in which he has been placed through the recent amendment to the Public Contracts Act. was tendered to-day. Mr Masters said that if he had completed his present term he would have been a member of the board for 16 years. The chairman (Mr S. G. Smith, M.P.) moved that the resignation he accepted with regret, and remarked that MiMasters had been a most useful and experienced member. The motion was carried.
