ALL BLACKS.

trip through Canada j i (by tf.i.f.graph—press • association. WELLINGTON, Oct. 14. A special meeting of the New Zenlmul Rugby Union was held to-day; In respect to the return of the All Blacks Mr Wylie said a proposal had beenmade that the Government might assist in bringing the team back through Canada. It was decided to interview the Hon. J. G. Coates on the subject. A protest was made' to the English authorities for deleting the New Zealand remit on the subject, of profes-

sionalism from the conference agenda paper. It was decided' to support the inclusion of French representation at the conference. TO-DAY'S MATCH. AN INTER LISTING FORECAST. Ihe opinion exp. sed yesterday that the match with Durham-Sunder-jand was likely to be a keen struggle is borne out by a special the - Christchurch Press from Capetown, giving the opinions of members of the British Rugby team. These go to show that the North.of England has come back to its old-time glory. To-day’s match is likely to be hard, and it is considered that the stiffest propositions for the All Blacks, so far as the county sides are concerned, will be Cumberland -(the champion county) and Northumberland. The latter can field an excellent set of backs’, including W. Wallace (iwing-three-quarter), J. H. Bordass (centre-three-quarter), and H. Whitley (scrum half), while Cumberland, who are looked upon a,s a very hard team to beat on the Carlisle ground, rely mainly on their forwards, although they, possess a. good centre-three-quarter in Holliday, the English Intern ational fullback of 1993. London 'Counties and Combined Services may he found to be the strongest of the remaining teams from the counties. A. T. Young, Cove-Smith, and MarsdenJones will probably play for the former. Combined Services can always command a wealth of. talent, .and may call Kershaw and Davies to their aid. The Universities are also hound to field good teams.
