HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATION.
CARE OF T.B. CASES. TENTATIVE PROPOSALS. “The board is determined that the people of this district will have the best hospital facilities possible,” said Mr. F. Gillanders, chairman of the Hawera Hospital Board, to a Hawera, Star reporter on his return from the Hospital Boards’ Conference on Saturday. “At the same time,” he added, “we are determined, in justice to the ratepayers, that people who can afford to do so will be compelled to pay for the service rendered.” He mentioned that the hospital rate would have to be increased from Is Hd to approximately 2s per £IOO. Discussing the work done at " the Conference. Mr. Gillanders stated that the general consensus of opinion was that the present methods of hospital administration could not be improved on, and that centralised control by tlie Health Department would not be in the best interest of the community. It would be advisable, however, Tor a number of the smaller hoards to make arrangements whereby T.B. eases would he accommodated, as the giving of separate attention is too costly for the small hoards separately.
