BULL IN CHINA SHOP.
EXCITEMENT IN BROADWAY. AN EXCITED CELESTIAL. A Broadway' was the scene of some excitement on Saturday afternoon, Avhen two hulls Avere being conveyed from the sa'leyards of Messrs Newton King to the home of their new oAvner (the Stratford Post reports). They had been brought along Miranda Street, and the intention Avas to drive them 'long Regan Street to East Road. The bulls, however, upon reaching Broadvay, raced along the street scattering the croAA-d in all directions. Something in the ironmongery and crockery shop of Mr H. T., Cooper seemed to attract the inquisitive ones, and into' it they dashed, narrowly avoiding a valuable showcase at the entrance. The first one was quickly dealt Avith. for it simply ran through the back door intc. the yard, in which process it was given assistance. The second one was a ■iu'ge animal which, upon reaching the shop took up a position amidst a large 'i/Hv.of valuable glass and china Avare, and stayed there until it Avas led out. The animal was A r ery quiet, and gave nr. trouble at all. The marvellous part of the Avhole thing Avas *he fact that not an article of crockery was broken and absolutely no damage to stock was sustained by Mr Cooper. The crowd in the shop •at the time g t the scare of their lives. One lady, with agility that would have done credit to an Olympic Games competitor, leaped upon the counter, A\Tiile another rushed into the office and shut, ‘lie glass doer. The intention of the latter evidently was to get through “he window at the back, but when her •ves rested upon that means of egress die was dismaved to find another bull on the outside, it seemed to he a ease of bulls to the right of her, hulls to the left of her, etc. Outside the shop the excitement was intense. In a I whs t no time a big. crowd had collected, an dthe Celestial m-ooi ietor of an adjoining vegetable shop gave a splendid illustration of an excited gentleman. Shoi tiy after the bulls hucf bcc-n remwed, another one Avas driven down the street, and : ts apnea ran co was the signal for a general scattering r.f pedestrians.
