AUSTRALIA’S WOOL.
WEAKNESS IN SALES. Exchange problem. BY SABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received 'Oct. 14, 10.50 a.m. SYDNEY, Oct, 14. The weakness which has developed in connection with the wool sales is the outcome of uncertainty over the question of exchange, and negotiations connected therewith between the directors of the Commonwealth. Bank and representatives of the associated banks are proceeding to Melbourne for the pooling of their, resources to enable them to finance Australia’s woc.l and other products for the coming season; Regarding these negotiations, the chairman of the Board of Banks represented states there is no danger of the board departing from a sound currency basis, and at the same time portecting their own interests. Whatever the outcome of the negotiations, there is no doubt that every baie of wool will be sold and paid for. The negotiations are proceeding satisfactorily, and it was only a matter of the banks getting together to ensure the success of the scheme. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
