(From Our Own Correspondent). A wind-up meeting was held in the school last night, when matters connected with the recent “Ye Old English h ayire’’ were discussed. The total receipts were £lO3 3s, while the expenses amounted to £22 12s 3d. This therefore leaves a credit balance of £BO 10s lid. The people of Matapu and surrounding district are to be congratulated on the fine result of their efforts. It will now be but a very short time ere tenuis enthusiasts, a>re enjoying their games on the court that is to je laid down in Matapu very shortly. ~t will, too, be but a short time before uiv Matapu School , will have a fine new. piano, the proceeds of the Fayre going to be divided for the two objects. In the report, in the Star some little time ago there appeared a list- of the lucky winners. Three more results are now known. Mr Harrison guessed the . vrest number of buttons —211 — this being the correct number. Mr W. McL’Dowie won the stock whin, guesmg the number 221. The * box of chocolates was won by Isabel Lindsay, she having tied with Mr Wiltshire and Allen Christiansen. These all 550, the correct number being 552. Chi the draw the; box was won by the lady stated.
