* A cable from Melbourne says Councillor Brunton has been re-elected Lord Mayor. Mr 0. Hawken. M.P. fcr Egmoiil, returned by the mail train last night for the week-end. Chang, the Chinese footballer, at present an inmate of the Christchurch hospital, having recently undergone operations for. appendicitis, is reported to be still on the serious list. Mr S. C. Lovell, of the London firm of Lovell and Christmas, Ltd., is in Hawera for a short visit. He is making a complete tour of the Dominion to get first-hand knowledge of dairying conditions. Friends of Mr B. Seaver will be pleased to learn that his health has so far improved that he has been able to leave the hospital. Within a few days Mr Seaver will leave for an extended stay in Hawke’s Bay for the further benefit of his health' Bro. R. Parkin, P.M., was presented with a past master’s jewel at the meet : f c.f the Mount Egmont Masonic Lodge last Wednesday night in appreciation of his many years of service os an officer of the lodge. Bro. Walter Tones rnr.de’ the presentation and spoke m high terms of praise of the faithful services of Bro. Parkin. Other brethren also referred to the, keen interest taken in the lodge by Bro. Parkin. The recipient, who was completely taken by surprise, suitably acknowledged the presentation.
