Zaghlul, whose face, was wreathed in smiles, said that he had nothing to say but thanks. He would not say good-bye, but merely au revoir. In a speech to a crowd of Egyptian students who tendered him an enthusiastic farewell, h e said that he had done his best to negotiate and had offered proof of the rights they claimed. His offer had been refused, but, he added, “the fault is not ours, but their’s.” —Reuter
