THE MEAT INDUSTRY.
NEW PLYMOUTH WORKS. OFFER MADE TO PURCHASE. At a special meeting on Saturday the directors c.t the Taranaki Farmers’ Freezing Company at Neiv Plymouth discussed an offer to purchase which had. been .received through the Bank of New Zealand. The works have been inspected hv representatives of various concerns, but only the one offer was received. It is •understood this came from the Farmers’ Fertiliser Company of Auckland. The directors have appointed a committee to proceed to Wellington to discuss the question with the bank, and. T possible, make an arrangement for Purchase. The prospect of the establishment of the fertiliser industry in Taranaki is valuable, because the manufacture from the raw material should cheapen 'he cost to the farmers of the province. In view of the large quantities used annually, which is ever increasing, its importance is manifest.
Further developments will be awaited with interest.
