HAWKE’S BAY CHAMPIONSHIP. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) . NAPIER, Sept. 26. In the final of the Hawke’s Bay golf championship to-day, Kapi Tareha (Napier) defeated J. B. Parker (Wellington), 2 up and 1 to play. HAWERA LADIES’ CLUB. For one reason or another neither the “01$ jContemptibles” 1 nor the “ Newcomers and Upstarts” could match their best teams on Thursday nor play more than six a. side. Both, teams were fairly evenly balanced in handicap strength, but the results of two very close games decided the match definitely in favour of the “Newcomers and Upstarts,” who finished 3 up on their opponents. The following are the results, the “Old Contemptibles” being mentioned first: Mrs French (15) lost to Mrs Little (11), 4 and 3; Mrs Thomson (15) halved with Mrs Wake (15); Mrs Bright (20) lost to Mrs Christie (20), 1 down; Mrs Suisted (20) lost to Miss Joll (20), 6 and 5; Mrs Foyster (26) lost to Miss Sturroek (23), 3 and 2; Miss Caplen (27)' beat Mrs Baylev (33), 3 and 1. Reduction of Handicap.—Mrs Wake handed in a third score (100) to qualify for seniors’ handicap (20); Miss J oil* 103—79—24; Miss H. Burgess, 111—79—32; Miss Burgess, 95 (14); Mrs Christie, 106 —80—26. The two last mentioned returned their scores at the open tournament at Wanganui. Yankee Tournament.—Miss' C. Reilly (27) beat Miss Ray Pease (40), 5 and 4; Miss Elliott (27) and Miss Bilton (40) , halved; Miss . Elliott (27) beat Miss Earl (33), 4 and 3.
