SCULLING CHAMPIONSHIP.

HANNAN CHALLENGES

HAD FIELD

(BY TELEGRAPn —PRF.ES ASSOCIATION.!

HAMILTON, Sept. 26. In view of cabled news that P'addon has relinquished the world’s sculling championship, Hannan has issued a challenge to liadfield, to whom he understands the world’s title now reverts, to- row him for it on a. date to be arranged. Hannan rows Arnst for the Australasian title on October 25, on the Waikato Liver, at Hamilton, and should Arnst succeed in wrestling the honours from Hannan, the latter would presumably withdraw his challenge for the major title in favour of Arnst, or whoever else might essay to win it. Meanwhile Hannan, who at present is in hard training at Hamilton, has deposited his cheque with the sporting editor of the Waikato Times.
