THE DAIRYING BUSINESS.
THE POSITION AT PRESENT.
Prospects for the dairying season look bright, for the mild Weather and frequent showers have produced an exceptionally good growth of grass. From the point of view of prices the position also appears good, butter looking particularly promising for the next few months. Sales, of first creamery butter have been made representing the make up to the end of September at prices from Is 7d to Is 7ld f.0.b., and Is has been paid for butter on the water. As far as is known no sales of October make have been effected at these prices, as buyers are not inclined to take a chance on the larger production of the month of October.
Offers for cheese have been at such a figure that factories have not been attracted, and any sales- that have been made in this neighbourhood have been of a special nature, that is to say the price has been paid contingent on the balance of the season’s output going on consignment to the buying firm.
