VICTIMISATION.
LEARNED MEN DECEIVED. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT LONDON, Sept. 19. The Mofnirig Post’s Strasburg correspondent mentions an amazing victimisation of Prussian classicists. The Prussian Nationale Library a parchment alleged to be an unknown work by Flatus. German professors learnedly commented on it, but the French palaeographer, Chatelaiiij expressed doubts as to its authenticity, whereupon an analysis was made of the ink, which revealed traces of aniline of, recent origin. This was discovered just in time to prevent a further purchase of what was alleged to be Livy’s Servius.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
