GRAND. THEATRE—TO-NIGHT. “GENTLE JULIA! The motion picture of “Gentle Julia,” Booth Tarkington's popular novel, which, opened a two day. engagement at the Grand Theatre last night, is as good as the book, if not better. And, let it be understood, that is getting very generous with conversation. Eull of youthful humor, pathos'and Tarkington real-, mm the picture is a continuous spasm ot laughs and tears from tfie first reel to the final fade-out. Bessie Love as the loving and beloved .Julia is typical of the character and Harold Goodwin as the principal one of an army of small town admirers rurnialies some rare humour. Marv Arthur is a very clever little girl and Sf. the part of the busybody little thirteen-year-old niece of Julia in a remarkable fashion. Rowland Y l-eo directed the picture and did i* exceedingly well. An excellent, suo-po.-cing programme will be presented. empress pictures, manau TO-NIGHT.
