BY CABLX—PRESS ASSOCIATION— COP YRIQ HI SYDNEY, Sept. 17. Mr. Rickard, president of the Millions Club, speaking on immigration, and. refuting the statement that Australia is receiving only penniless immigraiits, stated that for the period January 1, 1924, to August 31, 17,591 immigrants had arrived in Australia and had declared that their capital was £210,570. The Deputy-Director of Immigration stated that the declared capital was usually the minimum and experience showed that migrants brought considerably more.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. REDUCTION IN CABLE RATES. \ PERTH, Sept. 17. Mr. Gibson, who is a. passenger by the Osterley, states that at the begin.ning of December a 20 per cent, reduction in the cost of cables lias been arranged for, and still further reductions could be confidently expected with the intended duplication of the Pacific cable at an early date.
