HAWERA CRICKET CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the above club was held last evening, when Mr ■i- McCarthy presided over a very enthusiastic muster of members. The report and balance-sheet, showing a credit balance of £4 19s Id, were read and adopted.

The chairman, in moving the adaption oi-tne report, desired to congratulate the club on the healthy state of the finances and the • successful season from a playing point of view. The -iiiiior'B team had won the championship of their division, and he congratulated the captain (Rev. E. Goring) and the members of the team for then good piay and for the great enthusiasm shown by them. The thanks of the club were due to those enthusiasts who had made donations, and had become honorary members; also to the Borough Council and the Press for their efforts on behalf of the game. A suggestion was brought forward from the committee regarding arrangements for getting the necessary work done to the pitches on Saturdays. After some discussion, it was decided to. recommend that a levy of sixpence per match per member be struck to provide a fund for the maintenance of the pitches. The opening of the season was fixed lor the 27tli inst. <■
