WELLINGTON, Sept. 5. _ The Plunket Society Conference decided to provide a nursery at the Dunedin Medical School to tram students to take Dr Truby King’s place when his services are no longer available. Maternity problems were discussed. Dr Truby King stated that wards in jrnblic hospitals for maternity cases were not advisable. He was of opinion it would be better to spend £32,000 on training the 1400 midwives now practising +han to sink half a million in building wards. Officers elected were: President, Mr J. A. Johnstone; vice-presidents. Mes,dames W. F. Massey, Joseph MeGeorge Hosking (Wellington), Cracroft-Wilson ('Christchurch), Parker (Auckland). C. H. Mac Lean (Napier), Crawford .(Wanganui). Newman (Timaru), Pearce , (Invercargill); general committee, Mesdames Abraham (Palmerston N.), Merton (New Plymouth). Armitage (Temuka). Buchanan (Nelson), Miss Elsie Williams (Hastings). Mesdames Rattrav, Sidev, Moore. J. C. MeGeorge and Cunninghame (Dunedin); lion, treasurer, Mrs D. E. Theomin; secretary, Miss G. Hoddinott.
