LOWGARTH.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) As a grand finale to the official opening of the new factory, already reported. a social evening was held in the hall at night, when a large crowd turned out and spent, a real good time. The evening was spent in dancing, interspersed with songs and musical items. The talent was of a very high order, and all items rendered were thoroughly appreciated. Mr P, Wjlla.ii acted as M.C. and kept things going, while Mrs B. Johnson (piano) and W. Sim (violin) supplied capital musje for the dance. The programme consisted of quartettes, duets,'songs, solos, recitations, etc. The performers were Messrs Betts, Edmundsoiq Smith, J. Simmons, and C. MeQuin, and Misses Taylor and Millar. At the conclusion of the concert part of the programme, Mr A. D. Johnson, chairman of the company, thanked , all the performers for coining from as far as Stratford and Eltharn to assist in the evening’s entertainment, and thanked all those who had helped to make the function, both day and night., the success that it really was. The chairman’s remarks were carried by acclamation with three hearty cheres. I omitted to mention in my last notes that the judges.for the fancy dresses at the recent ball were Mrs F. Willan and Mr B. Johnson, and the winners were Miss Pry.ee (Miss America) for the ladies,'and Jim Vincent (Jockey) for the. gentlemen.
