RAWHITIROA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.)
The perfect weather of the past week has been a boon to the farmer; who is able to get done even more than the work of the moment. The school children, too, are fortunate in their spring holiday, and, spending most of their time out of doors, lav in a store of good health and energy for the Avork of the coming term. It is pleasing to know that the work of the boys’ and girls’ clubs is to be continued as before, for the growing of carrots and mangolds, and especially the rearing of calves, appear to be getting pnore popular with the children each year.
On Wednesday a most enjoyable evening was sp.ent by about fifty guests at Mr R. J. Knuekey’s residence. Gaines of all kinds, songs and dancing provided ample amusement for all. Some novel dances were introduced byway of variety. A dainty supper and a. motor ride home were for some hot the least enjoyable features of the evening. Among the guests were Miss Hemingway, of Patea, and the Misses Da.wes (2), of Westmere. Miss Nancy Dawes returned home on Monday. Mrs 11. A. Wood is on a visit to Dnanevirke.
The euchre party on Friday evening was not as well attended as usual, and the last one of the season will be held on Friday next. Mrs Robinson and Mr Stretton were the winners of the prizes, the latter handing his back as a contribution towards the. points prizes.
