KAPONGA ELECTRIC POWER.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE FORMED
In order to give country consumers move convenient facilities for present-' ing matters relating to the Kaponga electric power supply before the board, and also to enable the board to more accurately gauge the needs of consumers, it has been considered advisable to form an advisory committee, representing various centres in the district. The question received full discussion on Monday evening during a special board meeting, presided over by 'Mr \V. G. Cran, at which a number of interested consumers were present. Various suggestions were considered, it being finally decided that the position would be more favourably met by the appointment of a committee giving representation to the dairy suppliers to each of the factories, and any other consumers of power supplied by the board in the respective areas, and the following gentlemen were appointed (the factories, or areas, being shown in parentheses):—Messrs R. D. Dagg (Kaponga), J. Satler (Roiwan), J. P. Gibson (Riverleai), D. P. F: Malone (Palmer Road), N. G. Luxton (Te Ngutu and Matapu), and E. J. Sulzberger (Mangatoki), The chairman intimated that consumers within each of those gentlemen’s area of supply would, by immediate communication with the representative, be assured of prompt notification to the board concerning defects or other cause of complaint, which would receive equally prompt attention from the engineer. Further consideration was also given to expediting means of communication between consumers to the boaird, .and it was decided to request the Kaponga Chamber of Commerce to make application to the postal authorities for an extension of the telephone exchange hours, so as to provide a service, from 5 a.m. daily. This would enable those using electric power for milking plants to immediately get into touch, with the engineer should any fault occur dm mg the hours of operation. Indicating progress already achieved in extending tne telephone .-.ystem in the district, the chairman stated that as the result of the activities of the Chamber of Commerce in conjunction with the postmaster (Mr W. H. L. Roberts), the number of subscribers on the Kaponga exchange had, during u-cent months, been increased from 75 to 106, and he understood that 14 more were on the waiting list.
