“THE VALLEY OF. SILENT MEN.”

A picture which combines magnificent seen it* beauty with a thrilling story \s “The Valiev of Silent Men,” adapted irom James Oliver Curwood’s famous novel of the same name as a Cosmopolitan production, and released by Paramount. Frank Borznge, the creator o) “Humoresque” and other notable picture productions, has displayed no inconsiderable skill in his latest effort, vliss ‘ Rubens, appearing as a young Canadian girl, who loves a valiant corporal of the Canadian Mounted Police, when he. believing himself to he dying, confesses to murder, of which he is innocent, in order to shield her brother, has a role of signal dramatic force in the rendition of which her talents are admirably displayed. Her support generally is excellent, the characterisations of Low Cody, Joe King,; Geonge Nash and others, being all that could lie asked for. An excellent. supporting programme will be presented.

EMPRESS PICTURES.

NORMAN BY, TO-NIGHT

There isn’t any particular interest bestowed upon the average street waif in New.fork’s lower East Side. There are the it ands of them. But when it becomes known that a. child is careless- ! • dragging around a rag doll, that has 200 000 dollars’ worth of diamonds sewed up in its lining, she is naturally the- inost-srught-aftor youngster in the quarter. This situation affords a great deal of interest in the Universal drama, “The Darling of Now York,” starring Baby Peggy at the Empress Pictures Nnnnanby, to-night. Babe Peggy will appear at Manaia to-morrow at a matinee and also the evening performance.
