CIVIL CASES. At the Eltham Magistrate’s Court yesterday, judgment was given by defult, .with costs, in the ‘following undefended cases: H. H. Judd v. C. L. Wilson, claim £2 4s; A. A. Stewart v. D. H. Toms and wife, £52 Is 9d; J. Peters v. C. J. Wiley,'£B 9s 8d; Charles Ackland Belcher v. Arthur John Hill, £2 9s 6d; G. W. Peebles v. A. Onions, 10s 3d. JUDGMENT SUMMONSES. Harry Gubb v. James Hodge, £6 4s. Mr T. B. Crumpi, who appeared for the plaintiff, said that defendant was a sharemilker, and had ignored" the claim. Order for payment in 28 days, in default seven days’ imprisonment. ‘ A: E. Burrows v. Percy G. Law, £6. Mr D. Clement, for the judgment creditor, said defendant had made no attempt to find the money. Law was a married man with three children. Order made for payment of £3 within 14 days, balance in 28 days, in default seven days’ imprisonment. J. H. Brooking v. C. J. Wiley, £l2 3s 6d. To he paid within 14 days after service of order, in default seven days’ imprisonment. BY-LAW BREACH. Harold Curtis was charged with having ridden a push hike upon a county road during a period between sunset and sunrise without having attached thereto a lamp. H. E. Williams, county ranger, said he niet Curtis si bout 7.15 p.in. He was riding his bicycle without a light. ■ Curtis was fined £l and costs 7s. FAILING TO REGISTER. Owen Hoskin, Mangatoki, was charged with failing to register under the Defence Act, 1909. Constable Townsend said Hoskin was 22 years of age, and had only recently registered. Defendant pleaded ignorauce, and made the application himself subsequently. Hoskin was 13 years of age when he left school. Defendant in evidence said he had not done any drill whatever. Convicted and discharged.— Argus.
