BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT
(Received Sept, 3, 11.20 a.m.) LONDON, Sept. 2. The All Blacks landed at Plymouth. All are fit except Steele and Stephens. Each is suffering from a broken arm. Steele suffered his while wrestling, and Stephens through slipping from a" window at a fancy dress ball. The team was tendered a, civic welcome 'by the Mayor of Plymouth. Those present included Mr Donne, president of the Rugby Union, and Mr Sahdford, representing the High Commissioner.— Reuter.
Mr Deans, manager of the All Black footballers, interviewed, was most optimistic regarding the team’s prospects. He did not believe that the players would be inconvenienced by the difference in the English rules. ‘Personally, he considered a dropped goal should not count four points, but this and other questions, would be discussed at the Empire Football Conference. The team has gone to Newton Abbot, where it will take up training immediately. It is expected that Steele will be fit in a fortnight-. .[Among those in the official party were Messrs A. E. and W. H. Stephens. Which of these has been injured the cable message does - not state.] - '
