The annual meeting' of the AYaimate Blains Trotting Club was held in the Borough Council Chambers last night, when the president, Air B. AleCarthy. presided over a fair attendance. Apologies for absence were received from - Alessrs J. G. Xiehol and T. Tavlor.

The chairman, in formally moving the adoption of the annual report and balance-sheet, already published, congratulated members on another successful season. The balance-sheet this year showed a profit of £612, as against £584 last year. He was very pleased to see Air Stratton back again at his post. (Applause.) During the year it had been with regret that they had had to record the death of Air J. C. Hobbs. Continuing, the chairman said that- the last race meeting had proved very successful. The high stakes had resulted in good nominations from high class trotters. However, there was always room for improvement in the running of the meetings, and with this end in view the stewards submitted special reports on matters affecting the administration. In conclusion, the chairman said that the extra permit was still in abeyance, the measure having been talked out, with the result that it did not get through its first reading. Air 8. Adamson seconded, and the report and balance-sheet were then adopted. The officers, as mentioned in the report, were elected, nominations not being in excess of the vacancies. Air 11. A. Lennon was reappointed ■auditor at the same remuneration as last year. No other business was discussed, and the meeting closed with a vote of thanks to the chair. At a subsequent meeting of the committee, Air B. AleCarthy was appointed chairman, and Alessrs E; A. Washer, J. Campbell and At. Barraclougli an executive.
