(by telegraph—press association.i AUCKLAND, Aug. 29. A young sea lion which escaped from the zoo was recaptured m Whan Creek, making for the sea, by Frank Mullins, one of a number of returned soldiers engaged on earthwork. Another hundred yards and the animal would have been ready to bid farewell

to New Zealand. As Mullins approached the sea lion tried to bite his leg and barked like a dog. Mullins holding it fast by the tail, dragged it ashore. It took eight men to lift it- into a, dray.
