TO ROYAL ARTILLERY MEN

(BY TELEGRAPH —PHESB ASSOCIATION.J WELLINGTON, Aug. 28. The Governor-General (Viscount Jellicoe) unveiled this morning in the Artillery Drill Hall a memorial (p ten officers and seventeen other ranks of the regiment of the Royal New Zealand Artillery. The memorial took the form of a handsme white marble slab, which had been let in a central bay in the southern wall, and upon it were inscribed the names of the fallen. As a fitting tribute the, whole qf the officers and men of the regiment, who are drawn from all parts of New Zealand and are at present in camp at Trentham, were drawn up in the Artillery Hall as a special guard of honour, presenting an imposing sight. Those present included Sir R. Heaton Rhodes (Minister for Defence), Major-General C. W. Melvill (general officer conimanding the New ■ Zealand defence forces). Dr Sprott (Bishop of Wellington), and all the officers of the staff and commands.
Viscount Jellicoe said it had been his privilege that morning to inspect the guard composed of the Royal JN T ew Zealand Artillery, and when he saw in front of him these men, many of whom had fought throughout the Great War, 'and saw on their breasts tokens of what they had done for their country, he was not surprised at the record of the regiment, its discipline, and its deeds as a whole, which had been such an example to the officers and men of the New Zealand Territorial Forces. They had established a great record, and a record that would live for ever.
