POISONING CASE
CHARGE OP MATRICIDE. « ' EVIDENCE, BY ACCUSED. ST CABLI—rBISS ASSOCIATION —COPT SIGH! LONDON, Aug. 27. At the trial at Edinburgh of William Laurie King, aged 22, on charges of matricide and attempted patricide, the police produced evidence as to finding large quantities of arsenic in the possession of the accused, who obtained it by means of a forged order. Professor Littlejohn gave evidence, and said that he was satisfied that none of the food in the house contained poison.
Accused then gave evidence. He said he was interested in chemistry and used arsenic in experiments. A packet of arsenic was removed from his pocket by bis mother, and this he found in the pantry the day after her death. The corner of the packet was opened and arsenic was split on the shelves. Accused denied administering the poison.
The hearing was adjourned at this stage.
