NGUTUWERA.
(From a Correspondent.) Recently a farewell social and dance was held in honour of Mr. ChristofferS f n ’ our schoolmaster, who is leaving the district. There were about fifty present, and a very enjoyable evening was spent. Messrs Oldfield and O’Connor provided excellent dance music, and Mr. Ron. Cathie carried out the duties of M.C. Mr. Hooper, chairman of the School Committee, presented Mr. Christoffersen with a shaving cup and brush, and in doing so spoke a few words in his honour and as to the way in which he had got the children on at school. Mr. Christoffersen suitably responded and thanked those present for their kindness. An excellent supper, provided by the ladies, was then done full justice to. Dancing was kept going merrily until 2 a.m., when the function was brought to a close by the singing of “For he’s a jollv good fellow” and “Auld Lang Syne.”
