A daring attempt wa.s made bust mglit to blow open a sale in the head office of Hancock and Co., brewers and spirit merchants. One’shot fired m a large safe failed to open the door, though the' lock was shattered. A small safe was found plugged with gelignite, but tlie clnurge was not fired. The police were informed that a man was hanging round the doorway of the offices, but when they went t-a investigate the man ran away. He had a long start and vanished in the darkness after - a long chase.
