OUTBREAK ON STEAMER
DANGEROUS WORK
(BY TELEGRAPH— PRESS ASSOCIATION.) WELLINGTON, Aug. 25. An exciting scene wag witnessed on the steamer Rio Claro to-night, when smoke was seen issuing from the coal bunkers. An alarm was given an-d the h l '®' brigade was quickly oil the scene. it wasfound that the coal was only smouldering, but it was u laborious kask getting to the seat of the trouble. The ship’s edinpany had an anxious time, as the vessel, is loaded with inflammable oils, and the consequences would be serious if the heated coal burst into flames. ' •
The brigade is still working on the vessel.
