CANADA.
ATTITUDE TOWARDS EMPIRE TREATIES. BY CABLT-PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Aug. 13, 10.35 a.m. OTTAWA, Aug. 12. Interviewed at Montreal, Sir Evelyn. Cecil, member of the British House of Commons,, said that the utmost sympathy was felt in all quarters in Britain with Canada’s efforts towards a solution of the problem of maintaining the unity of the Empire, together with the complete liberty of the individual Dominions. There need be no fear that anyone in the Old Country _ would resent Canada’s action in raising ticklish questions as to the signing of treaties and the extent to which these were binding on the Dominions, or that anyone there thought that Canada was needlessly creating trouble. On. the contrary, he thought that the general feeling was that these questions had to be raised sooner or later, and Canada had simply been the first to tackle the awkward problem.— Reuter.
