Local medical practitioners (says the Y\ anganui Herald) have recently received a circular from the Commissioner of Taxes requiring them to add to their cash receipts in their future returns of income for taxation purposes the total of all unpaid accounts against patients incurred’ during the year. As is well known, the percentage of bad debts in a doctor’s accounts is a high one, and the prospect of paying out in cash to the Income Tax Department on book debts, a considerable number of which never will lie paid, is not regarded with favour. It is stated that an unusual form of complaint has been lodged with the Eoxton police as the result of traffic on the Palmerston North-Foxton road. It is understood that the driver of a motor vehicle had difficulty in passing another motor, and that when he did so he .slowed down greatlv for some miles, preventing the other car from repassing him, and allegedly causing the driver of the latter much delay. The last-named announced his intention of informing the police with a view to securing the imposition of a penalty for alleged obstruction of traffic.
