SAD CASE.
MURDER OF CHILD. MENTAL TROUBLE. (by TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Aug. 6. Keogh, who describes himself as a canvasser by occuoation, is a frail, emaciated man, and has suffered illhealth for two years. He has been unemployed for over six months, and his wire has supported the family by doing domestic work. Three w r eeks ago he complained about his health, and visited a doctor. Mrs Keogh became anxious on account of mental traits he exhibited, and complained to Sergeant Fitzgerald. The police advised her to secure a prohibition order against her husband, as Keogh, when interviewed, appeared normal and assured the police that he , would be all right when he secured work. On account of his weak condition he was not regarded as dangerous.
It is stated that he threatened his wife with a razor, but she did not take him seriously, and he did not attempt violence.
