CANADA.

VAST POTENTIALITIES. ■iY CABLE—PEEB3 ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT OTTAWA,. Aug. 5. The gathering of the world’s most famous scientists at Toronto is of vast importance to Canada, and it is the opinion of the local members of the British Association for the Advance-, rnent of Science that Canada’s position will find a higher place in Britain and Europe as a result of the visit of these men of learned knowledge. Scientific research is essential in the development of natural resources, and the scientists will take back a firsthand knowledge of Canada’s heritage in agriculture, forests, minerals, and waterways. In their university lectures they will bring colour to their teachings, and in their expert advice to industrial concerns perform a service which is bound to have far-reach-ing effects in Canada.
