NOT A SINNER.

JUST UNFORTUNATE. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) PALMERSTON N., Aug. 5. At the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr. Justice Reed, a middle-aged Maori named Eruera Tangeroa was charged with attempted murder by shooting a neighbour in April last. Accused was found not guilty on account of insanity, and was committed to prison during the pleasure of the Minister for Justice. The accused’s demeanour in court left no doubt regarding his mental condition. Accused was a pathetic figure as he asked from the dock: “Am I a sinner or a righteous man ?” “You aren’t a shiner,” answered the judge kindly. “You are just unfortunate.”
