PAGEANT OF EMPIRE.
HEAVY BATN MARS PROCEEDINGS. Br CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT. Received July 29, 11.15 a m. LONDON, July 28. Drenching rain, intermingled with an unseasonable snowfall, was responsible for the cancellation of to-day’s performance at the Empire Pageant. Tt also slightly interfered with the Royal inspection of 600 Scouts from all over the Empire attending the jamboree. Despite the downpour the boys'marched whistling to Buckingham Palace, where the inspection was held at the riding school instead of in the quadrangle. Each detachment was grouped under its own flag, which wasi dipped to salute the King, who shook hands with the masters and delivered a homily to the boys on the soundness of the scout precepts— Reuter.
