LONG NIGHT DANCE AND ' :euchre, , Jt a st Wednesday night the : Alnmitahi Hall was the scene of riuich, mirth and enjoyment on the .occasion <■; the long-night dance and euchre party, the organisers being Mesdames Barnes arid Muggendge. There was a large attendance, the sum. of £4 16s being taken at the door. Every arrangement had been made for the."visitors’, cc-m----fort. Progressive euchir-e was j : iayed on tables set on the stage, while:\>tlieis tripped merrily to the good music supplied by Air Kucliler arid party and local- ladies. About a dozen couples competed for . the waltzirig competition, the lucky ones being Air Al. Sehwass and Aliss Hall, Alesdames Ginger and Gibbs (Alton) acting as judges. Tlie. winner of the novelty dance was Aliss Smart. Prizes for euchire—gentlemen, Air Potts;, ladies, Airs Brunton; consolation, Alnster S. Geary and Afiss L. Spice, i The hall had been very tastefully decorated and a, bountiful supper was provided, which was ,done full -justice, to. Dancing wf, 3 .,,kep.t up Ml about- 2’ a.m. Mr C. S. Barclay .acted as,AI.C. for the evening. A school committee has at, last bee n elected here, Messrs Muggendge, Kills lea, Hancock, Scowa and Sehwass being elected for the ensuing- year. .It is hoped they will prove a progressive committee. The grounds a;-id fcuc: : s, etc., are to be thoroughly cone up shortly, which w’i 11'greatly adcl to the appearance of the school.
The factory has started working every other day. It is to'he hoped -a successful year is in store for the hardworking daily folks.
