PROPOSED POWER BOARD.

LOCAL BODY DELEGATES MEET. A meeting of local bodv delegates re the proposed South Taranaki Electric Power Board was held at the Borough Chambers to-day. Present: Mr Bone, Mayor (chairman) and Cr Burdekin (Hawera Borough Council), Cr Washer (Hawera Countv Council), Cr Long (chan-man Waimate West County Counoil); also Messrs B. D. Welsh aiid B. Malone (solicitors), and H. S. Elliott (secretary pro tem). Apologies were received from Mr Murdoch (chairman Hawera County Council), and Mr Coad (chairman Normanby Town Board). The plan of the proposed area and also the draft petition were considered and discussed, and the general position explained hy the chairman and solicitors. On the motion of Cr Washer, seconded by Cr Long, it was decided that the action of the acting-chairman of delegates in conferring with Mr Welsh, etc., and preparation of petition and plan lie confirmed. Cr Burdekin. moved, and Cr Washer seconded, that the plan and petition as now presented bo approved f also that the petition he printed and copies forwarded to the local bodies concerned to obtain signatures of ratepayers (in duplicate), and that the petition he then .sent on to the department.—Carried.
