MANAIA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) RIFLE CLUB BALL. As anticipated, there wa s a large attendance at the Town Hall on AVednesday night, the occasion being the- Manaia Rifle Club annual plain and fancy dress maswuerade ball, and visitors were present from all parts of South Taranaki. There was a large number present in fancy dress. The variety of dresses, both ladies and gents, was well worth seeing, and showed off to advantage in the grand march. The floor was in capital order, and the stage was beautifully decorated for the occasion by~Mesdames D. Mitchell arid L. Howell. Capital music was supplied by Cosgrove’s orchestra, and extras W ere played by Mrs. Collier, Airs. AAoods, Alisses AlcCarty, Donald, Arine Messrs Renwick and Hannah. Alessrs A. J. Hansen, S. Blair, AV. AlcDonald, and L. AValters ably carried out the duties of Al.C.’s. The supper room and tables were artistically decorated and looked very well. The decorations u erei n the hands of Airs. Hotter and Miss Hastie. A first-class supoer w r as provided by the ladies, Atrs.‘ A. J. Hausen being in charge, assisted by the ladies’ general committee. All details in connection with the ball were well carried out, and special credit ;is due to the ladies’ committee. No doubt it wa s through their energetic labour that the ball avas such a success. Credit is also due to the secretary (Air.* V • H. Hobday) on having every detail in his department complete. The following is a list of fancy dresses: Airs.
