KAPUNI.
FAREWELL SOCIAL. A meeting was held in the Kapuni Hall last evening to make arrangements for a public farewell to Mr. and Mrs. Willis, who are leaving Kapuni to take up their residence at Inaha. Mr. H. Whalen, who was voted to' the chair, referred to the active part taken, by Mr. and Mrs. Willis in local affairs, and stated that it had been considered fitting that on their departure some form of public expression should be given to the esteem in which they are held throughout the district. It was unanimously resolved that a public farewell be organised, the function to' take the fonn of a social and dance to be held in the hall on Thursday, 10th inst. Mr. A.'Stevenson was appointed as hon. secretary, all present, with power to add, being formed into a general committee. Officials were appointed, and a sub-committee was authorised to make, arrangements for a suitable presentation, it being further decided to request Mr. F.. J. Stevenson to attend and make the presentation on behalf of the residents of the district. The general committee includes the following: Mesdames H. Whalen, J. Gamlin, J. Paterson, C. Paterson. Wheeler, H. Elia son and Messrs. H. Whalen (chairman), A. Stevenson (hon. secretary), C. Paterson, J. Paterson, J. Gamlin, H. Eliason, G. Eliason, L. Eliason and H. Pickford.
