Mr K. G. Hume, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Morrinsville, has been appointed an inspector. Messrs. J. R. Corrigan ahd R. Masters, M.P.’s, were passengers by the mail train for Wellington this morning. ,Mr- Francis Bailey, an old resident of Wellington, died last week. He was born in Kent and came out to New Zealand 48 years ago on the sailing ship Himalaya.. For over twenty years he was employed in the Postal Department, and then took up business at Paraparaumu, where, he spent ten years. Deceased was a noted chess player, a rowing man in his youth, and an enthusiastic swimmer, up to the verv end. He is survived by a son and daughter. Mr. H. C. Bailey, the novelist, is a nephew’.
