THE DEMOCRATS. INDECISIVE VOTING. BY CABLE—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT NEW YORK, June 30. At the Democratic Convention, alto,;the recess balloting resumed with deadening monotony. The line and efficient manipulation of the votes showed that the leaders were permitting slight variations in order to maintain popular interest, but. nothing really decisive was yet to occur. Mr W. G. MeAdoo readied r'477, Governor “Al” Smith 303, Mr ,Davis (ex-Ambassador to Britain) 64, and Mr'James Cox 60 upon the thirteenth, vote, and since 732 of the 1098 total votes are needed for a. choice, it is evident that nothing outstanding has happened. The: convention adjourned at midnight after the fifteenth ballot, which gave McAdoo 479, Smith 3055, Davis 61 and Cox 60. This spelled a. deadlock, and no one dares predict. 4iow long this will continue. CONVENTION A DJO.URNS. Received July 2, 9.50 h.m. NEW YORK, July 1. The Democratic Convention adjourned at midnight till this morning after 15 unsuccessful * ballots.—Aus.-N.Z. Gable Assn.
