The judging in connection with the Boys and Girls’ Clubs’ root-growing competitions was carried out bv Messrs byme and Smith on the 16th irist The winner of the mangold prize was Era. Gargan, while Edith He'v secured first tor carrots. I understand that the judges complimented the competitors on the very fine standard of cultivation and caie displayed in the cror> management. Evidently the boys “and girls pay considerable attention to that ’lUuch we farmers are’prone to neede-t For some two months Mr Jonel, of Manaia, has been conducting a very successful singing class in the hall there being some 15 members at the outset, hut owing to removals and holidays the number at present stands at I_. In the near future Mr Jones contemplates staging a concert composed of items from his various pianoforte pupils together with some interesting and novel performances hv members of the singing class Mr J.
