FALSE VOUCHER.
OFFENCE BY CLERK. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) W ELLINGTON, June 25. ~ Regina Id Sutherland Avas committed for sentence to-day for forgiuoa lost and Telegraph Department’s voucher tor £2O 19s 4d. It was stated that accused had a record for Avork above the average employee, but had lately given Avav to gambling and dissipation. IK inade out a voucher for freight, alleged to have come from overseas, and forwarded this to airoa, AA'here it AA'as taken to the room oi the stores manager. AcAvaited Avhile the storeman smiled H. Apparently the voucher Avas °not checked, for the voucher was taken to the accountant’s branch and arranged tor authority for payment, leaving the stamp to be attached. It Avas presented tor payment at the money-order office Where the voucher Avas cashed. Accused said he had no accomplices, out worked out the scheme himself.
