The prosecutor intimated that one of the two informants died in 1918, and consequently he won id be unable to proceed with the oas6. Defendant’s counsel declared that the only point at issue was a French money lender’s statement to which lie had a. perfect corroborated answer;—'Aus.N.Z. Cables Assn. DSir Derrick Wernher, son of Lady Ludlow, was charged with perjury, which is alleged to have been committed during bankruptcy proceedings on May 6, 1912. The accused was declared ban., "upt in 1912. His father was a famous South African magnate, and left him £I2OO a year while between the ages of 25 and 30, and £2400 a year thereafter. A -sum of £150,000 was placed in trust for his children, and the accused’s younger brothers bequeathed £1,000,000 and £1,500,000 respectively.]
