As a- result of the action of the Seamen’s Union the. steamer Alabama is unable to leave with a crew of Chinese coolies. The Alinister of Customs has given instructions that the existing regulations must be adhered to. The Alabama is an Australian registered vessel, and must therefore be manned under Australian conditions, and the shipping master refused to permit the Alabama to sail with a crew as constituted at present.—Aus.-N.Z.
